Beyond the Visible: Why 500m+ IR Night Vision is the Standard for Critical Infrastructure
Fengtaida Team
Jul 01, 2026

When securing an airport tarmac or a border crossing, a standard night vision camera with a 30-meter range is inadequate. In industrial-grade perimeter defense, the goal is to see a target before it becomes a breach. This is why the IR6 series was engineered with a half-kilometer infrared illumination throw.
The Physics of Long-Range Illumination
Most security cameras fail at night because they flood the foreground with light, overexposing nearby objects while leaving the distance pitch black. The IR6 uses high-intensity arrays that synchronize with its 20x optical zoom. At the full 120mm focal length, the result is forensic-level detail on a 1/1.8 inch Sony CMOS sensor.
Built for Cold Starts and Lightning Strikes
Security hardware in substations or mountain logging sites faces thermal shock. The FTD-PTZD Spectrum is tested to operate at -45 degrees Celsius, with TVS 6000V lightning protection standard on all units.
The Dual-Sensor Advantage
For sites where IR is insufficient, dual-sensor EO/IR positioning systems provide the missing layer. By combining visible spectrum zoom with thermal sensors, detection no longer depends on light alone.
